Ithaca Building Inspector - Dale Sherman
The building inspector issues permits and inspects all new construction and remodeling. The City of Ithaca has a rental housing inspection program. Annual inspections of all rental properties are completed to ensure that any health or safety violations are promptly corrected by the owner. Funds to conduct the rental housing inspection program are raised through annual fees levied on each rental property. In addition to structural matters, the inspection guidelines also require that the exterior of homes be properly maintained and yards kept free of trash, and grass mowed.
