DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

City of Ithaca DPW Laborer, Full-Time Position. General labor in street system, water and sewer systems, parks and cemetery, public grounds, and equipment repair.  CDL B certificate required or must be obtained within 30 days upon hire. This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement.  Starting wage is $18.70 (with a 4.0% increase on July 1, 2024 to $19.45, then a substantial step increase upon reaching one year anniversary) per hour plus benefits; additional wage for employees that have or obtain a S-3 Water or a L-1 Wastewater Operator License.

City of Ithaca- Seasonal Laborer Positions- Department of Public Works:

Seasonal Position: Performs general labor duties including mowing and general maintenance for the Public Works, Water and Parks Departments.  Starting wage is $14.00 per hour with an average of 40 hours per week.    Position requires applicants to work with others and independently in indoor and outdoor environments.

Seasonal Specialist Position: Assists the Water/Sewer Superintendent with special water and sewer projects, including lead/copper waterline replacements. Position will also perform general labor duties including mowing and general maintenance for the Public Works, Water, Sewer and Parks Departments. Starting wage is $18.00 per hour, with an average of 40 hours per week. Position requires applicants to work with others and independently in indoor and outdoor environments.
